I never set out to become an athlete—I just wanted to feel better in my body again.
What started as trying to sleep better turned into strength training, cycling, hiking, skating, and chasing adventure all over West Texas. I’ve deadlifted my own body weight, competed in transplant games, and moved my body through grief, growth, and joy.
Here, I share my workouts, milestones, progress, playlists, and all the messy magic of fitness over 40—because it’s not about looking a certain way. It’s about showing up with gratitude for what this one-kidney body can still do.

I know what it’s like to want and need help. To look in the mirror and not recognize the person staring back. To carry pain—physical, emotional, and spiritual. I know the anxiety of trying on clothes, the ache of thinking you’ll never feel strong or healthy again, the overwhelm of not knowing where to start, and the heavy, looping tapes of self-doubt and trauma.
I know, because I’ve lived it.
But I also found a path forward—one step, one choice, one deep breath at a time. I’ve lost half of me….literally. Started at 230 pounds and now I’m at 115 pounds of muscle!
As a Registered Nurse, advocate, living kidney donor, endurance athlete, and NASM-certified trainer, I’m passionate about helping women over 40 reclaim their wellness and joy. You don’t have to be athletic, rich, or already “fit.” You just have to start. And I’m here to walk (or bike, hike, or dance!) beside you.

This space is for women who are ready to feel better in their bodies, find strength through movement, explore holistic wellness, and embrace healing inside and out—including emotional and spiritual wellness, whatever that means for you.

Hi, I’m Coach Kaci Sunshine — nurse, personal trainer, living kidney donor, and midlife rebel.
I know what it’s like to face obstacles, to start over, and to wonder if your strongest, healthiest years are behind you. I’m here to tell you: they’re not.
At 49, I’ve rebuilt my body and mindset through strength training, cycling, hiking, and adventure. I’ve competed in the Transplant Games of America, cycled across Texas to raise awareness, and hiked the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim Challenge — all with just one kidney.
