Friday my laptop tried to take itself out.
Not metaphorically.
Literally.
It overheated.
It got stuck in a boot loop.
And the battery swelled into what can only be described as a “spicy pillow.”
My son (who started his new job at HP Saturday — suspicious timing, honestly) had to disconnect the battery to stop it from cooking itself.
Apparently, the 2019 Razer Blade is known for overheating.
Cool. Cool cool cool.
But here’s what hit me later…
The metaphor was LOUD.
I had been updating my website all day.
Uploading photos.
Editing pages.
Building things.
Creating.
Tabs open. Canva running. WordPress syncing. Brain firing.
My laptop couldn’t regulate the heat.
And if I’m honest?
Neither can I sometimes.
Signs Something Is Overheating
- Running too many tabs.
- Looping the same thoughts.
- Ignoring cooling systems.
- Swelling under pressure.
- Waiting until something bubbles.
The shutdown wasn’t failure.
It was protection.
Modern machines shut down before permanent damage happens.
Maybe we’re supposed to do that too.
Here’s what I’m choosing to believe:
Sometimes the meltdown is a mercy.
Sometimes the swelling is a warning.
Sometimes the restart is necessary.
And sometimes your IT son is not actually trying to sell you a new laptop.
(Probably.)
☀️ Sunshine says:
Don’t wait until you bubble. Cool down before you combust.
