Some days are heavy.
Not in the way that dumbbells build muscle or a loaded barbell challenges you to rise—
but in the way your chest tightens, your brain fogs, and even a deep breath feels like work.
You might not always see it from the outside—
but grief, exhaustion, overstimulation, burnout, memories, and hormones all know how to sneak in and make a home in your bones.
And sometimes, it doesn’t take a major loss to feel it.
Sometimes, it’s just the weight of everything—piled up in unseen layers.
But here’s what helps.
💛 Movement—even a little.
A slow walk. A gentle stretch. A bike ride where you don’t chase speed, just air.
Let your body move, not to escape the heaviness, but to remind yourself it hasn’t crushed you.
💛 Words.
Whether it’s journaling, a text to a friend, or whispering to the sky—putting words to feelings creates space inside.
Not solutions, always. But space. And sometimes, that’s enough.
💛 Connection.
Not the big, shiny kind.
The quiet kind—like a pet’s nuzzle, a kind comment from someone who gets it, or a moment with someone who doesn’t need you to explain your heaviness before they hold it with you.
💛 Grace.
Give yourself permission to show up imperfect. To rest. To do the bare minimum.
You don’t always need to be bright to be light. Sometimes, just showing up is enough to keep the darkness from taking over.
💛 Remembering your why.
For me, it’s a canyon trail, a barbell, a cause, a calling, a tattoo, and a lifetime of proving that one kidney can carry more than most.
What’s your why? Write it down. Wear it. Whisper it. Let it pull you forward on days when your feet feel stuck.
Some days are heavy. That doesn’t mean you’re weak.
It means you’re carrying things that matter.
And Sunshine?
Even on the heavy days, you still shine.
Sunshine Says:
“Even when the sky feels too full of clouds, the sun is still there—steady, strong, and waiting to shine again. So are you.”
